Vegetable producer: Keeping supermarket shelves stocked

Every pack leaving the production line must carry clear, reliable coding, making thermal printheads and ribbons a small part of the process with a big responsibility. For a while, everything was becoming more expensive. The cost of coding consumables continued to rise, while replacement printheads often arrived later than expected.

When a printhead wore out, production teams sometimes had little choice but to keep using it until a replacement arrived. That affected more than just print quality. Poorer codes increased the risk of supermarket rejections, while delays disrupted production and placed extra pressure on the purchasing team.

The company initially approached Codeboxx looking for a more competitive supplier. Lower prices were important, but they quickly discovered that cost was only part of the story. More importantly, enquiries were answered quickly and replacement parts arrived when they were needed, helping production continue without interruptions.

Within the first year, annual consumables costs fell by 34%, saving more than £12,600. The savings were significant, but the biggest difference came from greater confidence. Production experienced less downtime, product codes remained consistently clear, supermarket rejections were reduced, and the purchasing team knew they could rely on supplies arriving when they were needed.

More than a year later, the partnership continues to support one of the busiest parts of the customer’s operation.
